Roane Publishing is seeking submissions for our upcoming ‘ELEMENTS’ themed fantasy anthology!

Theme: We don’t want your average flame-throwing, Storm-type hero. Give us unique—a woman with the Midas touch, or a tree-whispering peasant who holds nature's life and death in his hands.

Submission Deadline: December 31, 2016

  • No contemporary settings, SF, or steampunk.
  • We want hard-core, old-school fantasy—high, medieval, sword & sorcery.
  • No YA
  • No reprints
  • Stories must be at least 15k in length, but should be no more than 20k
  • Romance is not a requirement

*NOTE: Earth and metal elements have been filled for this anthology, but if you’ve got a great idea – and a FRESH take on something more than ordinary, we want to see it!

  1. Oh sure. When I'm supposed to be concentrating on edits for the novel.

  2. What a great name for the anthology! :-p

  3. Hi! I didn't catch the pay rate? Also, are you open to non-Western elements, like "music", "time", or "ocean"? Thanks!

    1. Pay rate is 50% divided equally between authors. Yes, non-Western elements would be awesome!

  4. Thanks! Also, just to clarify, when you specified "medieval", does that mean that you're actively wanting an exclusively medieval European-esque setting? ie, nothing with influences from Classical China or jungle civilizations or things like that? Either way is okay, but I thought it best to ask. Thanks!

    1. As long as there are no modern influences in the world, any civilization will be welcome.
